Posted: Sunday, January 1, 2023. 12:43 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: A Belize City woman was stabbed earlier today while trying to part a fight in which her boyfriend was also stabbed.

Twenty-three-year-old Melony Tate and her boyfriend 26-year-old Manuel Acosta were standing at the corner of Grants Alley and Barrack Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. when Acosta got into an argument with a man identified only as “Fats.”

During the altercation, “Fats” reportedly stabbed Acosta to the left elbow and left forearm, to the lower left side of the chest, and to the lower left side of the back. Tate was cut to the back of the right hand while trying to intervene in the fight.

They were both treated at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Meanwhile, police have picked up the alleged stabber, and are reportedly awaiting some information before he is formally charged.
