A trio of baby boys makes an entrance on New Year’s Day

By Aaron Humes: It took a little longer than usual, but according to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), a trio of baby boys were welcomed to the world on New Year’s Day.

The official New Year’s Baby for 2023 is Quincy Leiva, weighing eight pounds, two ounces, and delivered to Abigail Gibson, 24, of Belize City at 1:30 in the afternoon, her second child.

Next was seven-pound, ten-ounce Samuel Lawrence Eyeon Lino, the second child of Elsie Mae Bermudez who arrived at 6:12 in the evening.

Just over two hours later at 8:18 p.m. came the firstborn of 22-year-old Osderah Leslie of Belize City, six-pound two-ounce Ayce Alexander Cuellar.

The hospital says all the babies were delivered naturally, and are being breastfed in keeping with official policy as the Karl Heusner is a certified mother-and-baby-friendly hospital. It congratulates the maternity ward and labor and delivery staff and new mothers and children.
