Kaya Cattouse takes 52-mile Krem’s New Year’s Day Cycling Classic uncontested

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Kaya Cattouse was completely dominant in winning the 32nd Annual Krem’s New Year’s Day Cycling Classic raking all 14 station prizes in the 52-mile race from Orange Walk to Belize City via the Philip Goldson Highway.

Cattouse, riding for international team LA Sweat, crossed the finish line by the Belize City Civic Centre on Central American Boulevard in two hours, 55 minutes, and 26 seconds (2:55:26) according to the Cycling Federation of Belize’s official results. Cattouse opened a five minutes and 41 seconds lead over her teammate Mexican Mariana Valdez, who clocked 3:01:07.

Kedisha Francis finished third, riding in 9:41 behind in 3:04:47.

The fourth rider, Team Gonz’s Paulita Chavarria, the only Under-23 rider, completed the race in 3:14:33.
