Brother of man charged for killing American tourist charged for escaping police custody

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Twenty-year-old Tione Paguada, brother of accused murderer Delson Paguada, has been charged with fleeing the San Pedro Police Station after being detained.

Paguada was reportedly detained in connection with a gang affiliation investigation when he reportedly asked to go to the bathroom and escaped.

He appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with escaping lawful custody, and pleaded not guilty.

He was granted bail in the sum of $500 plus one surety of the same, which he met. He is scheduled to appear in the San Pedro Magistrate’s court on March 3.

Tione Paguada and his brother, Delson Paguada are both out on Supreme Court bail for a separate alleged murder charge that occurred some years ago on the island. Delson and Tione Paguada are out on Supreme Court bail pending trial for the murder of 32-year-old Paul Jex which occurred in San Pedro on January 23, 2018.
