International News: Southwest apologizes for ‘holiday meltdown’ giving customers 25,000 frequent-flyer points

Posted: Wednesday, January 4, 2023. 11:53 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Southwest Airlines has apologized to the thousands of customers that were forced to cancel holiday plans during its ‘holiday meltdown’.

According to NPR, the airline is giving them 25,000 frequent-flyer points.

Southwest Airlines say that the points are worth more than $300 in flights.

The airline included the offer in an apology letter from CEO Bob Jordan.

“I know that no amount of apologies can undo your experience,” Jordan said.

Jordan says that Southwest is acting “with great urgency” to process refunds, return lost bags and handle requests for reimbursement of costs incurred by stranded travelers.

The airline reportedly canceled over 15,000 flights between December 22 and December 30, 2022, according to FlightAware.
