Man caught with drug-smoking utensil fined over $200

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man caught with a utensil used for smoking drugs was fined in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.

Twenty-four-year-old Brandon Yarde appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court and immediately pleaded guilty to the offense with an explanation. He said that when police searched him on December 7, he was not using the utensil, and did not have any marijuana on him.

The Magistrate accepted his guilty plea and explained to him that in law, he had committed an offense simply by having the utensil.

For his guilty plea, Yarde was fined $200 plus $5 court cost which he must pay by January 31, or he will face prison time.
