By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man is out on bail after being charged with stealing a cellphone.
Twenty-four-year-old Naurice Leslie appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with a single count of theft.
Leslie pleaded not guilty to the charge, claiming he only borrowed the cell phone from the complainant.
The court granted Leslie bail in the sum of $800 plus one surety of the same, but before he could post bail he had to settle unpaid fines from several previous convictions including a State of emergency violation for not wearing a mask, driving without a license and driving a vehicle without third party insurance. The court told Leslie that he had to settle at least half of his bill which he was able to do.
Leslie is due back in court on February 21.
