By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man is out on bail after being charged with threatening to kill his own uncle.

Belize City resident, 30-year-old Akeem Jones appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with a single count of threatening words.

Jones initially pleaded guilty, saying that he and his uncle were drinking and got into a fight at which time they both threatened to kill each other; however, shortly after he changed his plea to not guilty, saying he could not remember the incident properly because he was so drunk.

There was no objection to bail being granted to Jones and so Magistrate Mannan offered him bail in the sum of $200 plus one surety of the same amount which he was able to meet.

Jones’ next court date is set for February 21.
