“My family was murdered at home”: Ramnarace Brother

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Kelvin Ramnarace, brother of Jon and David who were brutally murdered on December 31, 2022 has taken to social media to question “How safe are we in Belize?”

Kelvin says that David was the youngest brother and he was very gentle.

“We call him Mikey. My lee lee bredda. The youngest of us. He was a very gentle boy. He no even taak haad. He started a bizniz fu clean yaad. Not a flashy life. Just trying to get by like everyone else. He was not a criminal, not a murderer, he was not in a gang, I don’t know anything criminal about him. He was just a nice and gentle person,” Kelvin stated.

“I would tell you to grab your loved ones and stay safe. But me nono how yuh supposed to do safe da Belize nono. My family was murdered at home and di Police think da wa police merda dem,” Kelvin added.

Kelvin said “that is how safe we all are. Watch da video again and think of this real boy who only had a cup to defend himself with.”

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in Belize has also joined in extending condolences to the families and remembering Jon as a vital teammate and friend.

“Jon brought his gregarious nature, enthusiasm, and technology competency to our conservation programs, supporting many national initiatives intended to help safeguard Belize’s marine and terrestrial resources. These included the national roll-out and training of protected area managers and rangers to use specially designed software for patrols. He trained protected area staff to use aerial and underwater drones for monitoring and surveillance,” WCS noted.

Belizeans have also taken to Facebook to extend their condolences and demand justice for the Ramnarace brothers.
