BREAKING: Ramon Cervantes moved from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration to Ministry of Sustainable Development

Posted: Friday, January 6, 2023. 7:00 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister John Briceno has announced a “minor reshuffle” of portfolios in Cabinet.

Minister of State Ramon Cervantes Jr, who previously worked with Senator Eamon Courtenay at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, moves over to shadow Orlando Habet at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management. He takes on direct responsibilities for the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), National Fire Service and Solid Waste Management Authority.

While it is the second straight year there has been at least one change in portfolios in the Executive, the bloodletting was not as bad as last year’s switch involving multiple ministers and centered around then-Minister of Health Michel Chebat.

The Government statement said the P.M. wanted and expected “renewed focus on these three critical areas.”
