By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: China is now seeking to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infections as the country prepares to fully re-open for travel, the Associated Press reports.

Today, China’s Transport Ministry urged travelers to reduce trips and gatherings.

In addition, those using public transportation are urged to wear face masks.

Chinese authorities are expecting over 2 billion trips for the Lunar New Year travel rush.

Last month, China abandoned its zero-covid policies and since then, the country has experienced a surge in COVID-19 infections.

Meanwhile, a growing number of countries have implemented COVID-19 testing requirements for travelers from China.
