Prime Minister practices football skills on Berger Field in Belize City

By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister John Briceño was seen trying out his football moves on the smooth grassy field of community playground Berger Field on Vernon and Sarstoon Streets in Belize City this afternoon.

According to the Government of Belize Press Office, “Scheduled for completion in March this year, the newly renovated field is already being enjoyed by residents of the community. Even the Prime Minister joined in on the fun.”

After the ground-breaking in March of 2022, the Prime Minister said then that “Sports develops children and young people in numerous ways. Aside from keeping them positively engaged… it is discipline, team spirit building, strategy development. Sports is healthy lifestyle building and wellness…”

He added that his administration hopes that the improvement of Berger Field and others across the country will revitalize communities and provide safe, inclusive, and sustainable spaces that are easily accessible for residents to practice different sporting activities.
The Field is being renovated with the support of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB).
