International News: Arellano Felix Cartel tried to murder Chapo’s son in 2021

Posted: Tuesday, January 10, 2023. 10:44 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Mexican navy had monitored Ovidio Guzman Lopez, son of Sinaloa cartel’s kingpin, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman for 2 years, LatinPost reports.

Ovidio and his brothers are known as “Los Chapitos” and have taken over the leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to reports, in October 2021, Ovidio stayed at a hotel in Mexico City since he was there to meet with alleged federal authorities.

During his stay, he had 2 security escorts and had been followed by 5 hitmen of the Arellano Felix cartel.

The hitmen had reportedly been sent by cartel leader Pablo Erwin, alias “El Flaco, to kill Ovidio.

The hitmen took 2 photos of Ovidio and had sent voicemails to their boss to report Ovidio’s movements.

However, authorities intercepted the men and detained them.

During this investigation, law enforcement authorities revealed that Ovidio was not leaving the Sinaloa cartel and along with his brothers, they would remain in Sinaloa.

The Arellano Felix cartel is allegedly a rival of El Chapo’s Sinaloa Cartel.
