Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices are down another three dollars to start the year

Posted: Tuesday, January 10, 2023. 9:32 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Beginning on Wednesday, according to the Supplies Control Unit (SCU) of the Ministry of Agriculture, expect prices for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to be down three dollars countrywide, or 12 cents a gallon.

The new prices for LPG were published this evening. They are $1.22 per pound in Belize City and the towns and $1.24 per pound in rural areas, a difference of three cents from the last announcement on December 16. That means a 100-pound cylinder of “butane” now costs $122 if you’re in the urban areas and $124 otherwise.

The per-gallon prices are $3.72 wholesale, $5.32 retail (urban) and $5.42 retail (rural).

A decrease in the acquisition price for propane is credited for the fall in prices.
