Contributed by the Ministry of Economic Development: The Government of Belize (GOB), with financing from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Green Climate Fund, has embarked on a six-year Programme, Resilient Rural Belize (RRB), which aims to minimize the impacts of climatic and economic events on smallholder farmers while supporting sustainable market access for their produce. The Programme will help farmers employ climate resilient agricultural practices and technologies; integrate profitable smallholder participation into the development of select vegetable, fruit, and honey value chains; and support smallholder production capacity through investments in public and private climate resilient infrastructure and in the strengthening of smallholder farmer Producers Organizations and relevant GOB Departments.
Scope of Service:
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, the Hydraulic Engineer Consultant will be responsible for the Integrated Water Resource Management and all water related investments under the Climate Resilient Rural Infrastructure (CRRIA) component and those irrigation and drainage investments as identified in the Producer Organization business plan under Component 1. The Hydraulic Engineer Consultant is expected to abide by the Programme Implementation Manual (PIM), and regulations and procedures for supervision of design and civil works as per the applicable legislation of Belize. The contract for this consultancy will span 12 months (12 working days per month).
