George Price Day 15K Classic set for Sunday, January 15

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The third annual George Price Day 15K Classic, organized by the Freetown Reserves Promotions, is set for Sunday, January 15.

Amir Ramos won the 15-kilometer race (9.4 miles) in 54 mins 35 seconds (00:54:35) on Saturday, January 15, 2022. In the process, he shaved off five minutes and 49 seconds off Chester Arzu’s time of one hour and 24 seconds (1:00:24) set in the first race in 2021.

Last year, Ramos was followed by Fred Usher Jr, who was timed at 57 minutes flat (00:57:00)

Usher was also the winner of the first 15-K Valentine’s Day race organized by the Freetown Reserves Promotion in 2021 clocking one hour and one minute (1:01:00)

Arzu was second in the Seniors Category in 2022. He is competing in the category again this year.

The race starts at 6:00 am at Mile 8 on the George Price Highway and finishes at the Freetown Reserve on Freetown Road across from Atlantic Bank. As the runners come into Belize City through the Lord Ridge Cemetery, they will turn left on to Central American Lake Independence Boulevard, over the Belcan Bridge, and right to Freetown Road.

Transportation will be provided at 5:30 am by the Hair Architect Barbershop on Freetown Road by the Finish line. 

All those runners who finish the race will get medals. The top finishers will receive cash prizes as well.

The Freetown Reserves Promotion is a non-profit organization whose focus is youth, sports, and education.
