International News: U.S. Aviation administration lifts ground stop on thousands of flights following computer outage

Posted: Wednesday, January 11, 2023. 8:45 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) lifted a ground stop on flights across the United States of America following a computer outage that caused thousands of delays, the Associated Press reports.

Airports countrywide were affected.

Early this morning, the FAA ordered all flights in the U.S. to delay departures until 9am due to the outage.

However, due to congestion, the FAA cleared several flights and said that normal air traffic operations were resuming.

Over 3,700 flights were delayed and 640 canceled.

The FAA continues to investigate the cause of the outage.

U.S. President Joe Biden said that authorities are still investigating what the cause of the outage was.
