Legal year 2023 opens today

By Benjamin Flowers: Today marks the opening of the legal year 2023 for Belize’s judiciary.

The event will be marked by the annual opening of the courts with the traditional procession of judicial officers through the streets of Belize City to the courthouse.

The event will also feature the hallmark inspection of the Guard of Honor by Governor General H.E. Dame Froyla Tsalam as well as addresses by the Chief Justice, Attorney General, and the Belize Bar Association.

The procession and those proceedings will be recorded for a virtual presentation on January 17. 

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Motorists are advised that traffic will be restricted in the downtown area at that time.
