Magistrate’s Court made the move this week

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize City Magistrate’s Court finally opened in its new location on Coney Drive this week.

Cases commenced at the new location on Monday, at the building that was formerly used by the Treasury Department before its relocation to the Elanore Hall building on Chetumal Boulevard.

The move was originally scheduled to take place last week; however, there were some delays in getting items over from the Treasury Lane building.

The Treasury Lane offices suffered significant damage due to Hurricane Lisa and subsequent rains in November 2022, resulting in the ceiling collapsing in several areas.

The Magistrate Court is expected to remain on Coney drive for a period of 18 months, while renovations take place at the Treasury Lane office.
