By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The sugar cane season requires access for farmers, so the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) says its crews are working on upgrading the sugar roads in Northern Belize.
“The MIDH has shifted into an even higher gear as the sugar cane crop season gets underway,” the MIDH said in a social media post on Wednesday.
“Our teams are focused on ensuring that despite the weather which refuses to cooperate, our farmers can reach their fields to harvest their cane and get it to the mill.”
The MIDH said the Carrillo/San Lazaro Road in the Orange Walk District is now ready for the farmers, adding in another post that the Xubunha, Victoria and Water Bank sugar roads are being upgraded.
“These arteries are critical to the industry, and that means that they are a priority for our teams at this time,” the MIDH said.
