Police continue investigating report of Belmopan $250,000 robbery – did it really happen?

By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams announced this evening that an official report has been filed on Wednesday by Candido Martinez in relation to allegations he was robbed, along with his brother, of a quarter million dollars in October of 2022 by five men, including, allegedly, two police officers, at gunpoint.

“I can confirm that an official report was filed yesterday and police are currently investigating to verify if in fact the incident indeed happened. The persons named in the complaint are currently detained and are being interviewed. So far they are denying their involvement in any such crime. Nonetheless the investigators are conducting interviews with the neighborhood to verify certain information,” Williams told reporters this evening.

Earlier, while responding to a different inquiry, the Commissioner had suggested that there were “discrepancies” in the report that police are seeking to verify in order to advance the investigation, which continues.
