By Breaking Belize News Staff: The owners of Eruption Nightclub have received disclosure and their trial date for allowing a minor into their establishment.
The club owners 44-year-old Mira Estella Portillo and her common-law husband, 51-year-old, Hector Choj, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court along with their attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley on Wednesday. The prosecution provided the evidence against the which included a 52-page document and three CD’s.
Their trial date has been set for April 25.
On October 21, 2022, a 17-year-old female entered Eruption Nightclub with a group of friends. That minor would later become the victim of rape. Apart from arresting the accused perpetrator, Portillo and Choj were arrested, as admitting someone under the age of 18 years into a nightclub is an offense under the Laws of Belize.
They were arraigned in court on October 27, 2022, and released on bail in the sum of $1,000 each plus one surety each of the same amount.
