By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, U.S. Scientists said that 2022 was the world’s 5th warmest year on record and that the last 9 years were the 9 warmest pre-industrial times, Reuters report.

Scientists from NASA said that 2022 tied with 2015 as the 5th warmest year since record-keeping began in 1880.

This was despite the presence of the La Nina weather pattern in the Pacific Ocean, which generally lowers global temperatures slightly.

European Union scientists also said that 2022 was the 5th warmest year in their records and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said on it had ranked 2022 as the sixth warmest since 1880.

Weather extremes were recorded around the world in 2022 with Europe suffering extreme hot temperatures and floods devastating Pakistan.
