Fourth form student Adrian Hernandez charged for murder; Remanded to prison

Posted: Friday, January 13, 2023. 3:13 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City resident, 18-year-old Adrian Hernandez, a fourth-form student at Sadie Vernon High School is behind bars at the Belize Central Prison today following a charge of murder.

Hernandez was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, accused of the murder of 61-year-old Emert Reginald Flowers.

Due the nature of the offense, Hernandez was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until March 13.

Police had initially sought George Hernandez, Adrian’s brother, in connection with the incident. His mother told Channel 7 News that she believes the police have mistakenly charged the wrong brother for the crime.

Notably, the deceased Emert Flowers is the father of Kyle Latchman, who has been missing since the day Flowers was fatally shot at his home on Racecourse Street, Belize City.
