By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City resident Malcolm Heusner will stand trial in the Belize High Court for the murder of 25-year-old Dorian Anthony.

That was the decision handed down today at Heusner’s preliminary inquiry held in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.

Heusner appeared before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser, who ruled that he would stand trial in the April session of the High Court, with his first appearance set for April 20.

The prosecution submitted as many as 17 witness statements along with 18 documentary exhibits including a firearm, and a .9mm CZ brand pistol. When asked if he had any alibi witnesses he intends to call, Heusner said that he did not have any at the time. The Chief Magistrate informed him of his rights to furnish the court with a list of witnesses, which must be submitted by Thursday, January 19.

Heusner was then remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

On January 14, 2022, Tzac was in his bedroom along with a 14-year-old male minor when a gunman snuck into his house, came to his room and opened fire on them. The minor was also shot in the incident but lived to tell police that he recognized the shooter. Heusner was also charged with respect to the injuries the minor sustained; however, those charges were later withdrawn.
