Sixty-nine-year-old man sentenced to four years in jail for sexually assaulting his granddaughter at age 4

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 69-year-old man will be spending the next four years in prison for sexually assaulting his own granddaughter.

On Friday, the man, whose identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the child, was sentenced in the High Court of Belize by Justice Susan Lamb, after being convicted of two counts of assault of a child under the age of 16 by penetration on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022.

The victim, now 11, gave testimony, on camera (within the judge’s chambers) that her grandfather assaulted her once when she was four years old and again when she was six years old.
