By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) has joined the Fisheries Department and colleagues in mourning the loss of Vivian Belisle Ramnarace.

“Several of our members, past and present, had the pleasure of knowing and working with “Viv” during her time at the Fisheries Department,” PACT said.

“We extend our sincere condolences to her Fisheries Department – Belize family, the Belisle and Ramnarace families and all her friends,” PACT added.

The Belize Fisheries Department says that they are heartbroken at this tragedy.

“We are heartbroken Viv. Your work family will miss you deeply. We were lucky to know you, to learn with and from you. Your legacy will live on in your beloved daughter and in your work. We will always remember you – your smile, your friendliness, your warrior spirit and the love you had for your family and friends.”

Vivian passed away on January 15, 2023 after being shot multiple times on New Year’s eve.
