Belize City man fined for stealing tablet from his own cousin

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man was convicted in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week of stealing a tablet from his own cousin.

Twenty-nine-year-old Deon Jones appeared unrepresented on Tuesday, answering to a single charge of theft. The item is valued at $250.

He immediately pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $500 plus $5 cost of court which must be paid by March 31 or he will face five months in jail.

Jones, who had a previous conviction for theft, promised the Magistrate that he would not appear in court again for the same charge, after being spared prison time for this latest conviction.
