By Rubén Morales Iglesias: West Lake Port beat Lake I 2-0 in the Belize City Champions Cup at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex on Monday.
Jarret Davis nailed the first goal in the 45th as the first had expired. Then, Naim Wilson put Lake I away in the 62nd, according to Kursha Pollard, Technical Director at the Belize District Football Association.
The loss made Lake I relinquish the top spot which was taken over by the Freetown Bombers who trounced the Ladyville Wolves 4-0 in the first game on Monday.
Tied in points with West Lake Port, Lake I were still able to clinch the second spot over third-place West Lake Port on goal difference.
Both will meet again in the semifinals at 7:00 pm on Friday at the Marion Jones.
The Freetown Bombers play New Revolution in the second semifinal at 9:00 pm.
