By Benjamin Flowers: This week the Belize Progressive Party (BPP) publicly shared its condolences to the families of David, John, and Vivian Ramnarace, three Belmopan victims murdered in a single incident.
On Wednesday, the BPP issued a statement, conveying the party’s sadness at the incident, which was described as a “senseless horrendous tragedy.”
The party also issued a call for justice for the victim’s families and called on authorities to work diligently to ensure that justice is served.
“The BPP is calling for a full investigation into this dreadful crime and prosecution of the perpetrator(s) to the fullest extent of the law,” the BPP said. “We call on the Government of Belize to allocate more resources towards tighter gun control and licensing requirements.”
The party also called for a number of reforms to the justice system to ensure that the issue of gun violence is addressed, including stricter punishments, increased transparency from law enforcement, and changes in leadership in government and at management levels to ensure greater efficiency of the justice system.
