By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Elderly brothers, Candido Martinez, 80, and Sergio Perez, 75, could face charges following allegations that in October of 2022, they were victims of a home invasion and $250,000 had been stolen from them.
The men claimed that they had saved up from when they arrived in Belize about 60 years ago.
Martinez says that he arrived in Belize when he was only 14 years old and he came to work.
In addition, the men had already made a claim a few years ago that the police officer they are accusing of stealing from them had taken their money for land they attempted to purchase.
According to a report by Plus TV, at that time, the men also said that they paid the accused $250,000, the same amount that they claim was stolen from them in 2022.
Meanwhile, during the police press conference on Tuesday, Assistant Superintendent, Fitzroy Yearwood said that the police have launched an investigation. However, if the allegations are found to be untrue, the elderly brothers will face criminal charges.
