International News: Chinese Foreign Ministry welcomes visit by U.S. Secretary Blinken

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken is scheduled to visit China on February 5, 2023, Reuters report.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin said that China welcomes Secretary of State Blinken.

“Both China and the United States are in communication now over the specific arrangements,” Wang said.

“(China) also hopes the United States will adopt a correct view of China, uphold dialogue rather than confrontation, win-win rather than zero-sum (thinking),” Wang added.

It is anticipated that Blinken will meet with Chinese foreign minister, Qin Gang in Beijing.

Blinken’s visit would be the first visit by a Secretary of State since October 2018.

During a meeting in November, U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President, Xi Jinping  committed to more frequent communications.
