By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 21-year-old Belize City resident was charged this week with stealing from his own father.

Jordan Ferguson appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, charged with a single count of theft in relation to three sacks of cement stolen from his father’s home.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 but had to settle an old bill with the court before he could post bail. However, at the end of the day he could not post bail and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

His father, 48-year-old Monroe Ferguson, said that his son has stolen from him before and he believes that his son is on drugs and stealing to support the habit.

The father said that on January 17, he noticed the sacks which were in his kitchen were missing. His daughter later informed him that she had met her brother coming down the street from their home with two of the three sacks.
