Footballer, youth sports organizer Dion ‘Pussy’ Flowers passes away days after motorcycle accident

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: A very affable football player and youth sport organizer Dion ‘Pussy’ Flowers passed away on Thursday at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

According to reliable sources, Flowers suffered a motorcycle accident on Saturday going into Sunday morning on the George Price Highway between Faber’s Road and Lord Ridge Cemetery and had been in an induced coma since then at the KHMH.

Flowers, who was in his early forties, played football at the highest level in Belize with the Belize Men’s National Team both at the senior and junior level, Kulture Yabra, with whom he won national championships, Juventus, FC Belize, BDF, Kremandala Warriors, and Grigamandala.

His passion for football and sports in general led him to organize countless football sports youth camps in the San Martin de Porres area of Belize City over many years.

His death is a great loss for the community according to football greats like Marvin ‘Marvelous’ Ottley and Charlie Slusher.
