Fifteen beekeepers and staff from MAFSE and the Belize Marketing and Development Corporation (BMDC) attended the one-day workshop conducted by National Beekeeping Coordinator Miguel Huertas.
“Over 200 pounds of raw beeswax was recycled from last year’s honey harvest and old frames were prepared and stamped at the Yo Creek Agriculture Station,” MAFSE said in a social media post.
“With cold weather going away the honey season is starting again and colonies require stamped wax for storing honey. One of the tasks facing beekeepers is to prepare wax sheets for the bees to use.”
MAFSE has been working hand in hand with the beekeeping industry stakeholders in improving and modernizing the production and quality of honey.
