Posted: Monday, January 23, 2023. 3:07 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Ministry of Economic Development launched the Medium-Term Development Strategy (MTDS).

The MTDS is a plan to serve as the national source for strategic planning, giving the Government a pathway to achieving multidimensional development objectives.

Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Economic Development, Dr. Osmond Martinez said that this medium-term development strategy was developed by a core working committee and the CEO caucus.

“I am proud to announce that this is the first in-house strategy developed by a determined team. After all, who better to know about our needs than the people who live the realities? Therefore, it is imperative to reiterate that this is a homemade plan developed by Belizeans for Belizeans. Our labour was long, but the delivery is beautiful,” Dr. Martinez said.

According to Dr. Martinez, the effective implementation of the PlanBelize Medium Term Development Strategy will deliver fundamental rights for vulnerable populations.

It will also increase the human capital index, bolster our public and private sectors, preserve our natural resources, and improve living standards for all Belizeans.

Dr. Martinez invites everyone to join in transforming Belize into a more inclusive and sustainable country through education, science, technology, innovation, investment, good governance.
