Progresso draw 0-0 with Champions Altitude in Premier League of Belize in Orange Walk

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Two games and not a single goal from both Champions Altitude and Progresso. The two are having a dismal start to the 2022-23 Closing Championship though Sunday’s game was an improvement in comparison to the losses last week.

Yesterday both drew 0-0 in a tight and even match at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town.

“After 90 minutes Progresso pulled a draw against the champion of the opening season,” said Progresso FC, who are nonetheless satisfied with a better performance against the champs than their 2-0 loss to the San Pedro Pirates the previous weekend.

“The new players are adjusting, and we are playing better and being more offensive. Looking forward to a better result next week.”

Altitude also improved, gaining their first point after losing 1-0 to Benque Viejo United in the opening game of the Premier League of Belize’s Closing Championship at home. The bad start has caused Altitude to lose ground to Verdes in the cumulative table in the fight to qualify to the Concacaf League.

This coming weekend Progresso travel West to take on Benque Viejo United while Altitude will play Wagiya at home in Independence.

In the other Sunday match, Port Layola dropped Bandits 2-0 while on Saturday, San Pedro Pirates beat Wagiya 4-2 and Verdes edged Benque Viejo United 1-0.
