By Aaron Humes: News has been received of the apparent passing of William Dawson, director of the Leadership Intervention Unit (LIU) and formerly Director at the Wagners Youth Facility at the Belize Central Prison.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, a longtime ally and friend, was among those confirming his death and paying tribute on social media, offering “our sincerest condolences to the Dawson family as they mourn the passing of their dear son, brother, husband and uncle Mr. William Dawson,” from the Police Department and Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Commissioner said this “very gentle and kind soul… worked tirelessly with the at-risk youths to guide them away from the destructive gang path.”
“He never watched the clock; once something happens no matter the time of the day or night, he is sure to respond. He truly had the heart of a lion and the tendency of a tiger,” Williams added.
The Commissioner concluded that he would be sorely missed on earth, but that “Our lord now have a great interventionist on his side.”
We will have more details on this developing story as they become available. May William Dawson rest in peace.
