FFB calls the Belize Men’s National Team to training for Concacaf League March games

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) on Tuesday called the Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) to training in preparation for the Concacaf League games in March.

The BMNT will have eight training sessions prior to their Concacaf League B games against Guatemala at the FFB Stadium on Friday, March 24 and against the Dominican Republic on Monday, March 27 at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo.

BMNT head coach David Pérez Asensio has called a rather new team consisting of many young players signalling a changing of the guard.

Pérez has called 23 players: three goalkeepers, eight defenders, nine midfielders, and three forwards.

The trio of goalkeepers is led by Charles Tillett who is joined by Progresso FC teammate Luisito Cunil and Kenroy Tillett of Port Layola. Tillett who’s been called several times to the BMNT and who played as starter when his ex-Verdes teammate Woodrow West was suspended and later let go from the BMNT, will surely be the starter.

The defenders are Donell Arzu from Progresso, James Mejia, Kyle Flowers, and Collin Westby from Champions Altitude, Everal Trapp and Allence Ayala from Verdes, Darren Miss from Benque Viejo United,  and Kleron Cacho from Wagiya.

The midfielders are Darrel Myvette, Jordy Polanco, Izon Gill, Eldon Reneau, and Zion Ramos from Verdes, Denmark Casey from Bandits, Carlton Thomas and Nahjib Guerra from Benque Viejo United, and Andir Chi from the San Pedro Pirates .

Three forwards were called, namely Horace Avila of the Pirates, Michael Palacio from Port Layola, and Trimayne Harris from Verdes.

In total, Pérez called eight Verdes players; three each from Altitude, Progresso, and Benque United; two teach from Port Layola and San Pedro Pirates; and one each from the Belmopan Bandits and Wagiya.

The BMNT is to report to the FFB Headquarters in the first instance for January 30 and 31.

Pérez is to be assisted by assistant coaches Dale Pelayo and Shane Moody Orio, and goalkeeper coach Stanley ‘Jordan’ Reneau.
