Deaths reached a peak of over 4,000 on January 4, 2023.
A Chinese scientist said that 80% of China’s 1.4 billion populations have already been infected.
As of January 12, 2023, almost 60,000 people with COVID-19 have died in hospitals in China, just a month after the country abandoned its zero-covid policy.
