By Aaron Humes: Leader of the Opposition United Democratic Party, Moses “Shyne” Barrow, has issued condolences to the family of the late William Dawson, a man whose commitment to Belizean at-risk youth he described as “second to none.”
As Barrow explains, “I first met LIU Director brother Dawson 14 years ago in 2009 when I visited the [Kolbe] Correctional Facility to speak to those incarcerated in hopes of inspiring them to change their lives for the better and return to society reformed as productive citizens. Brother Dawson’s passion and consistent hard work to help those who have fallen short in society, deter at-risk youth, and reduce crime and violence in Belize is second to none.”
Barrow further exhorted, “Let us all aspire to in our own way follow the example set by brother Dawson to make society better by helping our fellow women and men find redemption and worthiness in life,” and extended his deepest sympathies and wishes of comfort to the bereaved family.
