Police investigating four-year-old Javin Alvarez’s death in traffic accident

By Aaron Humes: Police continue to look into the circumstances of a fatal traffic accident out west on Monday night that claimed the life of four-year-old preschooler Javin (or Jayveen) Alvarez of Valley of Peace, Cayo District.

Javin was with his father Desi Alvarez, who was driving a red Toyota pick-up from Valley of Peace to Roaring Creek at half past seven when he lost control and overturned, landing in a drain. Javin sustained severe head and body injuries and died at the Western Regional Hospital while undergoing treatment, but Desi survived without any injury.

According to police, when Desi Alvarez identified himself to them at the scene as the owner and driver of the truck, they cautioned and placed him under arrest; however, he resisted and bit one of the officers. However, police say he is in custody as their investigations continue.
