Belize City Champions Cup Finals set for Sunday, February 19

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize City Champions Cup Finals have been scheduled for February 19, said organizer Marvin Ottley.

West Lake Port will play against the Freetown Bombers in the Final.

West Lake Port doubled up on Lake I 6-3 in Belize City Champions Cup semifinals last Friday. That same day the Freetown Kelly Street Bombers eliminated New Revolution 3-1.

Lake I will match up against New Revolution for third place.

Ottley said the delay is because the Marion Jones Sporting Complex is being used daily for several competitions including the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association’s football championship, which is a week behind, and the Premier League of Belize (PLB).

Though the Belize City Champions Cup is just a friendly tournament, it features a number of PLB players like Jarret Davis, Jahron Myvette, Gilroy ‘Bredda’ Thurton, Shawn Young, Francisco ‘Peely’ Briceño, Ian Gaynair, and Michael Palacio.
