International News: More journalists murdered in 2022, attacks in Mexico, Ukraine, and Haiti

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Last year was a deadly year for journalists as the death toll increased by 50% from 2021, Latin Post reports.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), the highest number of attacks on journalists occurred in Mexico, Ukraine, and Haiti.

Data from the CPJ said that 67 news media workers were killed worldwide in 2022.

More than half of those deaths happened in Ukraine, Mexico, and Haiti.

In Ukraine, 15 journalists have died since Russia’s invasion began last February.

In Mexico, media groups reported the murder of 15 journalists.

Seven journalists were killed in Haiti.
