Valley of Peace farmer charged for accident that killed his four-year-old son

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have officially arrested and charged 43-year-old Desi Alvarez, a farmer from Valley of Peace village, Cayo district, in connection with a traffic accident on Monday that claimed the life of his four-year-old son Javin Alvarez.

On Wednesday, police charged Alvarez with the crimes of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, and drove motor vehicle not covered by third-party risk insurance.

Alvarez was additionally charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, one count of wounding, and two counts of harm.

Around 7:30 p.m. on January 23, Alvarez was driving his pickup truck from Valley of Peace to Roaring Creek when he lost control and overturned, landing in a drain. Javin, his son, received severe head and body injuries and died while undergoing treatment at the Western Regional Hospital. Alvarez himself was unharmed following the incident.
