Verdes challenge leaders Port Layola in Premier League of Belize; champs Altitude play face in Southern derby

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The big game of the weekend in the Premier League of Belize’s 2022-2023 Closing Championship will happen on Sunday when National subchampions Verdes clash with present leaders Port Layola.

The match is slated for 4:00 pm at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio.

Port got off to a brilliant start with two victories in the bag while Verdes have earned a win and a draw.

Other than that, all other games are scheduled for Saturday night with the Southern derby playing out at 7:30 pm at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence. Champs Altitude, who have only recorded a point from a draw and a loss, are taking on Dangriga’s Wagiya Sporting Club who have started out worst with two losses.

Benque Viejo United will battle Progresso at the Edmundo Marshalleck Stadium at 7:30 pm in Benque Viejo del Carmen in what promises to be a super competitive match.

The other Saturday game features Bandits at home against San Pedro Pirates at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan at 7:30 pm. Playing at home, the Bandits are banking on a good performance against the islanders who will be gunning for a third win in a row.
