Former Senator, Paul Thompson to be named CEO of Ministry of Natural Resources

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Former Senator, Paul Thompson will be the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

During an interview with 7News Belize, Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, Cordel Hyde thanked former CEOs Lesbia Guerra and Nelda Tulcey and confirmed that Thompson will be the Ministry’s new CEO.

“I think I have to thank the 2 females who agreed to be my CEO over the last couple of years. They both served 12 months. Listen, the job of a CEO is demanding. The job of a CEO in the ministry of natural resources is stressful and taxing, it’s debilitating, and it takes a lot out of you, and a lot of time from your family. It’s a really difficult job and ultimately these women after a year in both instances opted to return to their previous career,” Hyde said.

Hyde says that Thompson has learned a lot from both former CEOs and he knows all the issues in the Ministry.

In addition, Hyde said that Thompson is a hard-working person and has had success in the business of governance over the years.
