Posted: Saturday, January 28, 2023. 10:34 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Thursday, police officers in Haiti blocked off streets and broke into the airport to protest the murder of police officers by armed gangs, Reuters report.

The officers first went to the home of Prime Minister Ariel Henry and then went to the airport as Henry was arriving from a trip to Argentina.

Prime Minister Henry was at the airport for a while during the incident then returned to his home later Thursday.

Protesters also blocked off roads around Port-au-Prince.

A Haitian human rights group says that 78 police officers have been killed since Henry took office in July 2021.
