Man charged with loitering is challenging the case in court

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City resident charged with a single count of loitering is challenging the charge in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.

Twenty-eight-year-old Travis Tyler Navarro, pleaded not guilty to the charge, explaining to the magistrate that he is self-employed and that the area where police allege he was loitering is the area where he sells his wares.

He went on to say that he has documentation to prove that he is allowed to sell in the area where he was arrested for loitering; however, the magistrate stopped him and explained that, since he pleaded not guilty, he did not have to explain at that stage of the process.

The magistrate granted Navarro bail in the sum of $300 plus one surety of the same, which he was able to meet.

Navarro is due back in court on March 24, 2023.
