By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Pedro Pirates were merciless blowing out the Belmopan Bandits 6-0 recording their third consecutive victory in the Premier League of Belize Closing Championship on Saturday night at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in capital Belmopan.

Facundo Garnier, Brayan Vargas Sanchez, and Horace Avila scored a brace each for the islanders in their 6-0 trouncing of the once (well, much more than once) champions.

But while the Bandits crumbled in the second half, they actually held their ground in the first 45 minutes. San Pedro’s first goal didn’t arrive until Argentine Garnier converted the opener in the 46th minute. All hell broke loose then. Avila nailed his two in the 50th and 57th. Vargas found the net in the 72nd before Garnier hit his second in the 78th to make it 5-0. Vargas then converted the third brace of the match in the 90th for the final 6-0.

Garnier and Avila now have three goals each. They are one short of Port Layola’s Michael Palacio who now leads with four after hitting one against Verdes.

San Pedro now lead the PLB with nine points, edging Port Layola on goal difference.

The Bandits for their part have drawn one (against Verdes)  and lost two.
